17 Years in Heaven Ė Remembering Robbie

Itís early spring in Kansas, Rob,
And youíre not here to see
The tulips and the daffodils,
The grass and redbud trees.

But these earthly things that bring us hope
And coax from us a smile,
Must seem mundane to one whoís lived
In Heaven all this while.

For you have flowers all the time,
And endless shining Light,
While we who wander here below
Must suffer Winterís Night.

Thereís nothing here on earth compared
To all you have above;
While we must fight the Evil here,
You have endless Love.

Itís not for you to suffer want,
Itís we who live below
Must seek Godís beauty in the spring,
To ward off Winterís Woe.

Most of all, I miss you, Son,
And wish you by my side,
You were the Sunshine in my life,
Your sweetness was my pride.

I miss you still, though many years
Have passed since youíve been gone.
We travel sadly, plodding yet,
Waiting for the Dawn.

Some glorious day youíll come for me
And take me to the skies,
And earthly woes will be forgot
When viewed through Heavenís eyes.
